Dozens of human beings have died over floods in Africa’s Sahel region, whilst heaps others are “in instant need of shelter, easy water, and health services,” the UN Refugee Agency stated in a statement Thursday.

“Dozens of people have died including a displaced pregnant mother and her teenage daughter. Thousands greater are in immediately need of shelter, clean water, and fitness offerings across massive swathes of Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, and Niger,” the UNHCR voiced.

Niger, in accordance to the report, has been hit hardest as Nigerien authorities have confirmed seventy one deaths, ninety injured, and more than 350,000 human beings affected by the floods throughout the country.

According to the statement, the “heaviest rains” which began to hit the location in August “are believed to be the worst in over a decade.”

“Homes have been destroyed, fitness centres damaged, and farmlands submerged throughout the Sahel, the place severe and indiscriminate violence had already forced extra than 3.5 million [people] to flee both inside nations and across borders,” the UNHCR noted.
