As the devastation from Tuesday’s big explosion became clearer Wednesday, humans round the world expressed team spirit with Beirut as it faces crises of hunger, homelessness, and harm from the destructive blast that leveled the port vicinity of the Lebanese city.

“Beirut is one of my favourite cities in this world. And the Lebanese people are some of the excellent I’ve ever met,” said journalist Karen Attiah.

“They deserve so lots more than all of this.” Journalist Rania Khalek, who lives in the city, tweeted that the level of destruction used to be incomprehensible.

“There are no phrases to describe the scope of destruction in Beirut,” said Khalek.

“This was once an complete city destroyed in a few minutes,” she added.

“The struggling and misery is unfathomable.” Beirut residents blamed what they described as a corrupt, careless authorities for the explosion.

“They are so irresponsible that they ended up destroying Beirut,” a schoolteacher named Sana told KnowAfrika. Images and video from Beirut showed the devastation in the Lebanese city.
