5 stars who could be playing their last AFCON in Egypt

Five players could be playing their last Total Africa Cup of Nations after many young stars are making their debut with respective national teams.This year tournament is the 32nd edition of the continent most glamorous competition in Egypt but this month Mundial will mark the end of some of the great African players who have featured for their countries over the years.Let take a look some stars who might be bowing out of Africa’s grandest football bonanza in Egypt.

5, John Boye

The 32-year-old Metz centre-back was handed national team debut on 22 June 2008 against Gabon before going to make 64 appearances for Ghana but former Heart of Lions graduated would not able to make another tournament two years time.

4. Trésor Mputu

Mputu who is 33 is still donning local giants TP Mazembe’s and he could be playing his last African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The Kinshasa-born missed the last two editions in Gabon and ‎Equatorial Guinea but was recalled for this month tournament after last featured for DR Congo since a goalless draw with Cameroon in a World Cup qualifier at Stade des Martyrs on 16 June 2013.
Mputu was an unused substitute during his nation 2-0 loss to Uganda at Cairo International Stadium in their Group A opener but The Leopards will battle the host country Egypt in the second group game on Wednesday before Zimbabwe.

3. Carlos Kameni

The 35-year-old legendary goalkeeper is currently with Cameroon squad in Egypt but Kameni last appeared in the Africa Cup of Nations in 2010, missing Indomitable Lions fifth glorious campaign two years ago in Gabon.
Kameni might not have a lot to offer and with the emergence of Ajax number one stopper André Onana and he not able to feature in another AFCON tourney in two-years times.

2. Asamoah Gyan

The legendary striker made his international debut at the age of 17 has gone to feature 106 times for Black Ghana and scoring 51 goals in the process.

1. John Obi Mikel

Super Eagles skipper is the third oldest player among the 552 soccer stars that would be participating in the 2019 African Cup of Nation in Egypt.
Mikel has already admitted that this might be his last tournament after winning the competition back 2013. Mikel, the current most decorated player in coach Gernot Rohr 23-man squad was part of English giants Chelsea squad in 2006.
