‘A Tribe Called Judah’ is set to make its debut in the UK

‘A Tribe Called Judah’ is set to debut in the international market this Christmas. The film would be heading to the United Kingdom, marking a significant step for the Nollywood industry.

A Tribe Called Judah was released in Nigeria on December 15, 2023. The film cast includes Funke Akindele as Jedidah Judah, Jide Kene Achufusi as Emeka Judah, Timini Egbuson as Pere Judah, Uzee Usman as Adamu Judah, Tobi Makinde as Shina Judah, and Olumide Oworu as Ejiro Judah.

Funke Akindele’s latest release became a massive hit. It will debut in the international market during the Christmas holidays. Adeoluwa Owu, the co-director of the film, said on Instagram that the film would debut in the United Kingdom. 

It will be distributed across the United Kingdom by Independent Film Exhibition Consultancy (IFEC) from December 29, 2023.

A Tribe Called Judah

A Tribe Called Judah became Nollywood‘s first film to gross ₦113 million in its opening weekend. So far, the film grossed over ₦122.7 million. 

It is currently the highest-grossing movie for 2023. With Barny Emordu as the Director of Photography, the film has created history at the box office.

Sunday’s earnings of the film alone exceeded N60 million. Funke Akindele, a Nigerian filmmaker, actress, director, producer and politician, managed to generate significant revenue from the film. She achieved a remarkable milestone with her Nollywood film, ‘A Tribe Called Judah’. 

The story of the film is about brothers planning to rob a small mall with their mother’s help, but they are faced with armed robbers upon arriving at the mall. Various events take place at the mall. Scenes of bloodshed and emotional distress occur at the scene.

So far this year, the Nigerian box office took center stage. Ten local productions secured spots in the top 20 Nigeria box office list in 2023.

According to data from the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN), Nollywood films dominated the box office.
