AFCON 2019: Benin makes history, dump out Morocco

Benin defeated Morocco in the AFCON tournament round of 16 after playing a 1-1 draw in the normal regulation time, the game went to extra time then penalty shout and Benin converted all their spot kicks while the Atlas Lions wasted two of their kicks.
Morocco started the game in attacking mode with Benin on the receiving end, the Squirrel did all things possible to keep the Atlas Lions on check in the opening 45 minutes.
Morocco had much of the ball possession they forced Benin keeper Kassifa Owolabi into a fine safe, Hakim Ziyech had a chance to put Morocco ahead but his effort was denied by Kassifa.
Morocco had six attempts while Benin had just one in the opening 45 minutes. Morocco looked the better of the two teams as but the first half ended in a goalless draw.
Benin scored via Moise Adilehou who met a cross from a corner kick and drilled the ball towards the goal. his effort went into the middle of the goal and a blunder from Morocco goalkeeper Bono ensured Benin went ahead in the 53rd minute.
Youssef En Nesyri received the ball inside the box to put ii inside the net with any issue as he made it 1-1 in the 76th minute.
Morocco was awarded a penalty in the dying minute of the match but it was crashed against the woodwork by Ziyach in the last minute of the regulation time.
The game went to extra time and it took no long before Adenon Khaled.
The extra time ended goallessly but made it to the quarterfinals after converting four penalty kicks where they meet the winners of Friday’s last-16 tie between Senegal and Uganda in Wednesday’s first quarter-final.
