Africa and the World Bank discuss « concessional loans »

On Monday, in Nairobi, Kenya, African heads of state met in which philosophize backhanded representatives of the World Bank. The contest lit on renderings like the International Development Association (IDA) and the African Oceania. The IDA, a depository of the World Bank, is reputed to deliver immensely favourable conditions for loans destined for poverty alleviation programmes.

The continent’s heads of state are meeting this Monday in Nairobi, Kenya, with World Bank officials. The focus of the meeting will be relations between the International Development Association and the continent.  This subsidiary of the World Bank is known for its loans on very advantageous terms, aimed at programmes to combat poverty.

“It’s very easy to have hope when we’re together anywhere in Africa. You feel the sun on your face, the wind at your back, the fertile, mineral-rich earth beneath your feet and, above all, you feel the contagious energy of love.” These are the ingredients that can determine the future,’ said Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank Group.

Last year, the IDA allocated 18 billion dollars to African countries. Its model is in line with the continent’s expectations, according to the Kenyan President.

“Unlike other sources of finance, IDA stands out for its rapid and decisive action during the crisis. Thanks to its demand-driven programmes and concessional loans over 40 to 50 years, borrowing countries can implement long-term sustainable development strategies,” explains the Kenyan President.
