President of Ghana, Akufo-Addo on Wednesday visited the Kotoka International Airport to assess the country’s readiness to deal with the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The President also visited the General Hospital in Telma, and the Greater Accra Regional Hospital.

His visit was geared towards assessing the measures put in place by the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to deal with the fast-spreading virus.

“At the Kotoka International Airport, all passengers are screened using thermal scanning devices at the airport, and passengers are also required to fill a health declaration form,” President Akufo-Addo wrote on Facebook following his visit.

“A holding room at the airport, which is to be utilised to hold suspected COVID-19 cases, has been established. The Tema General Hospital and Greater Accra Regional Hospitals, together with others, have been designated as treatment /isolation centres.”

The Ministry of Health has stationed health officials at the Kotoka International Airport to screen for the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, 40 suspected coronavirus cases that have so far been reported in Ghana have all tested negative.
