Botswana Football Association Hits Out At ZIFA Over Venue Change

Last updated on September 11th, 2021 at 03:14 pm

Botswana Football Association has said that ZIFA did not give a valid reason for changing the venue for the 2021 AFCON qualifier match from Barbourfields, Bulawayo to the Nationals Sports Stadium in Harare.

Zimbabwe changed the venue saying that Bulawayo City Council had indicated that floodlights at Barbourfields might not work properly since they were last used a long time ago.

Bulawayo, however, dismissed the reports saying they were never engaged by the Zimbabwe Football Association.

Botswana Football Association’s national team’s general manager, Majok MonnaKgotla said that the Confederation of African Football should have done something.

MonnaKgotla added:

They changed the venue to Harare without giving a valid reason. They cited poor floodlights, but our investigations proved otherwise. It is fine. We go to Harare and fight. I feel CAF have done something with it.
