Burna Boy – a Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer – is one of the most famous artists in the African continent. His talent has helped him to earn several historic moments. Now, the Nigerian singer has set another massive record. He has earned four nominations for the 2024 Grammy awards.
Previously, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu MFR, AKA Burna Boy, also won Grammy awards for his talent. His “Twice as Tall” won the Grammy Award for “Best Global Music Album” in 2021. Twice as Tall was released by Atlantic Records, Spaceship Entertainment, Bad Habit, and Warner Music.
In 2022, Burna Boy’s sixth studio album, Love Damini, was also released. It became the highest charting African album in the United Kingdom.
Burna Boy, the Nigerian sensation, earned four nominations for the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, an upcoming music awards ceremony to be held on 5 February 2024.
His single ‘City Boy’ has been nominated for Best African Music Performance for the 2024 Grammys. His single ‘Alone’ has been nominated for Best Global Music Performance, and ‘I Told Them’ has been nominated for the Best Global Album. He also earned a nomination for Best Melodic Rap Performance for ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ featuring 21 Savage.
With the 2024 Grammys nomination, the singer becomes the first Nigerian artist to earn four nominations in one year. He has also made history by becoming the first African lead artist to be nominated outside the global categories for his nomination for Best Melodic Rap performance.
So far in his career, he has earned around 10 nominations at Grammys, which is one of the best, the most prestigious and significant awards in the music industry worldwide.
In another history feat, Burna Boy becomes the first African artist to earn five consecutive Grammy nominations from 2019 to 2023.
