A first case of the novel coronavirus has been recorded in Egypt which is also the first to be recorded in the whole of the African continent.
Coronavirus was first discovered in December 2019 in Wuhan, China and has so far spread to various parts of the world.
The virus has claimed more than a thousand lives mainly in China whilst the total number of reported infections is over fifty thousand.
The case recorded in Egypt is reportedly not from Egypt. This was revealed in a joint statement from Egypt’s health and population ministries.
The statement also said that the patient who did not show any symptoms of being ill has since been quarantined in a hospital for treatment and monitoring.
