Ghana 2-2 Benin: Pote scores a brace to hold Black Stars

Mickael Pote of Benin scored a brace against 10- man Ghana to secure a 2-2 draw in their opener in the AFCON tournament in Egypt following the sending off of John Boye on Tuesday night.

Benin hit the target with just two minutes played following a goal from Mickael Pote who received a sublime pass from his teammate to score the opener for the Squirrels.

Ghana did not take too long to equalise the goal after Andre Ayew pounced on a loose ball inside the penalty area and beat the goalkeeper with a shot to make it 1-1 in the 9th minute.

The Black Stars of Ghana pressed hard in a bid to get the second goal but Benin players put all their actions into check and ensured no further damage is done to their team.

Ghana got the second with just three minutes to end the first half via Jordan Ayew after a nice finish from Nuhu Kasim pass. Ghana to the lead to the second half of the game.

Ghana was reduced to 10 men after John Boye was giving a marching order in the 54th minute following a bad challenge on his opponent. Mickael Pote scored the equaliser with a sublime backheel goal from an assist provided by Jodel Dossou in the 63rd minute.

Benin is seriously capitalising on the one-man advantage over Ghana to launch attack upon attack on the Black Stars in a bid to get the winning goal.

The game ended in a 2-2 draw. Ghana will play Cameroon in their next game while Benin will go against Guinea Bissau, both games will be played on Saturday.
