How to check my BVN on my phone using MTN, GLO and Airtel 2022

The BVN functions similarly to a security number in that it allows banks and other financial institutions to link a person’s bank account information to their identity. You are given this one-of-a-kind 11-digit number when you register with a biometric device.

The identification of a person based on physiological characteristics, such as a fingerprint, voice, or set of facial features, is known as biometric registration.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in partnership with all Nigerian banks, launched a centralized biometric identification system called the Bank Verification Number (BVN) on February 14, 2014, to address the growing compromise of customer security information like passwords and PINs as well as the difficulties banks face with identity management.

Since then, consumers have been identified via their BVN. However, a lot of people have trouble getting their BVN and using financial services because they forget to save them or don’t have them.

Fortunately, you may receive your BVN without going into the banking hall. Without jeopardizing your security, you can use your phone to check your BVN number from any location. After that, you can store it for later use.

In Nigeria, this task is made possible for users by all telecom companies.

How to check BVN on MTN, Airtel and GLO

The first step before using this service is to confirm that the line you intend to use is the one with which the BVN was registered. You cannot check your BVN using an Airtel line if you enrolled with MTN.

Once that has been confirmed, you can proceed to check your BVN by following these easy steps:

  • Dial the USSD code *565*0# using your phone’s dialer.
  • When the 11-digit number appears, wait a little while.
  • Note down the number. You have the option of copying it for later use or saving it for now. The cost of the transaction is 20 naira, thus the service is not gratis. For those who can’t afford to tip telcos a whole $20 each time they check their BVN, conserving money for later use is advised.

It should be noted that the procedure for checking your BVN is the identical across all lines and banks. Because each person is given a singular BVN that is utilized by all banks, whether you are a customer of GTB or UBA, you use the same code to check your BVN. This implies that even if you have accounts with every bank in Nigeria, your BVN will remain the same and connect them all to you.
