How to check your BVN on your phone

The bank verification number (BVN) is important in the Nigerian Banking industry. It is a legally recognised financial registration system. It is an 11-digit number that is unique to each Nigerian in the country. 

BVN shows your full name, date of birth and phone number. The scheme was introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the central bank and apex monetary authority of Nigeria, to protect customers’ transactions. 

How to check your BVN on your phone

You can check BVN online. You don’t need to go to the bank to check BVN. You can follow specific steps to check BVN on your phone. Go to the BVN validation portal and enter your details. The next step is the verification of your BVN information through the NIBSS BVN Validation Portal. Consequently, log in with your Username and Password.

A person is allowed to check only their BVN on their phone on the NIBSS. What are the steps to check your BVN on your phone? You will get the code to check BVN.

  1. Enter your BVN number
  2. Enter your registered date of birth
  3. Confirm the ownership of the BVN number
  4. ATM card should have an account balance to allow the deduction of the verification fee of ₦25
