During the opening of the summit held at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi emphasized that Africa should not continue to play catch up when it comes to technology. Mudavadi, who also serves as the Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary, stressed the importance of Africa’s active participation in shaping the world’s technological future.
“We must ensure that we are running fast enough not to be left behind,” Mudavadi stated, highlighting the need for Africa to keep pace with global technological advancements. He further urged President William Ruto to continue investing in technology to ensure that Africa remains connected and never left behind.
President Ruto, speaking at the same event, expressed his satisfaction with the progress his administration has made in digitizing 80 percent of government services. This significant achievement demonstrates Africa’s commitment to embracing technology and leveraging its potential for growth.
The Connected Africa Summit serves as a strategic forum where African Heads of State, Ministers of ICT, public sector representatives, private sector leaders, academia, foreign missions, and development partners come together. Over the course of five days, the summit aims to address critical challenges and opportunities within Africa’s ICT sector.
