An Orlando Pirates defender has spoken about how much he has learnt from Happy Jele.
Ntsikelelo Nyauza has been playing alongside Jele ever since he become a regular in the Pirates’ set-up in August 2019 and took over the captain’s armband a few times this season in the 33-year-old’s absence.
Nyauza has made 21 appearances in all competitions for the Bucs this season, having formed a great partnership with Jele, as they have been integral to Pirates’ turn around in form.
Speaking in an interview Nyauza explained how much knowledge he has gained from Jele as a captain and a defensive partner.
Happy Jele has come a long way here at Pirates to get to where he is, to get the captain’s armband. He also learnt from his elders such as Lekgwathi and Sangweni.
I also got here and I am learning from him as an elder, so that when I get to that point where I am needed to lead the team, then he would have mentored and guided me. I see the leadership qualities and I know that whenever he retires, I would have learnt a lot from him as a leader. He grooms all of us as players. I have learnt so much from him as a leader,” he said.
