JP Duminy Appointed As Head Coach Of South Africa’s Provincial Team, Boland

JP Duminy, a former South African batsman, has been named the head coach of the provincial team Boland on a two-year contract. The Boland cricket team represents the Boland region in the South African province of the Western Cape.

This is Duminy’s first job as head coach. He previously acted as a batting consultant for the Lions franchise. He was also associated with the national men’s team in the T20 World Cup for some time.

Duminy is excited about his role

Duminy reportedly said, “Boland is close to my heart. I’m very excited and nervous to get into the coaching space after playing cricket.”

As reported by ESPNcricinfo, James Fortuyn, CEO of Boland Cricket, said, “One of his biggest strengths is man-management. Duminy has vast experience.”

Reportedly, Boland selected him as the head coach because he spent his cricket career in the Western Cape. Earlier, Duminy played domestic cricket for his home team, the Cape Cobras. He also has a good connection with many players of the Boland cricket team.

The Boland squad, under the Paarl Rocks name, has won the 2019 Mzansi Super League.

JP Duminy

Jean-Paul Duminy is commonly known as JP Duminy. He played 46 Tests, 199 ODIS, and 81 T20ls for South Africa before retiring after the 2019 World Cup. He was the vice-captain of the South Africa Twenty20 team.

He is best known for his cover drive, square cut, quick wrists and athletic fielding. During the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, Duminy became the first South African to take a hat-trick in a World Cup match. In 2016, he scored his fifth Test century during the first Test against Australia in Perth, the capital of Western Australia.
