Opposition groups in Mozambique has been told by the European Union (EU) to to accept the peace deal given to them a sign of peace and unity across the country particularly the renowned Renamo rebel group.
EU said the peace deal was non negotiable and that anybody who goes against the government of Mozambique would face severe consequences.
“The nonaggression treaty can’t be opened or renegotiated. (…) The message is to exploit this arrangement, these chances, this cycle. There is a window that is as yet open, yet it might be shut in some time. Actually I am very idealistic,” said António Sanchez-Benedito, the European Union represetative to Maputo.
“And yet, we need to perceive that there are still hindrances, that there are actually difficulties. I feel that all Mozambicans have the conviction or more all the longing for this to be the complete understanding,” he included.
Renamo pioneer Ossufo Momade lost last October’s vote to occupant president Felipe Nyusi.
European Union are the major advocate for this peace deal, EU also has set aside over Five million dollars in implementing the deal across the country particularly the amongst the rebel group.
