Nigeria: Congestion Hinders Performance In Business Ports

Last updated on September 11th, 2021 at 08:05 am

Nigeria’s business port has been hindered by congestion coming from heavy duty trucks, the trucks are stagnated in the busiest areas in Lagos, the states that generates almost half of the country’s revenue.

The blockage, which is practically devastating activities at the Lagos TinCan port, has constrained some transportation lines to redirect Nigeria-bound cargoes to adjoining ports in Cotonou and Cote D’ Ivoire as indicated by Nigerian Ports Consultative Council.

A long-running emergency at the Apapa and Tin Can Island ports Lagos, the primary business passage focuses into Africa’s biggest economy Nigeria, has been deteriorated by the pandemic-incited financial droop.

With the at that point forced lockdown and numerous curfews, dock work was hampered, bringing down efficiency and expanding the long stays of the vessels.
