Nigeria ties with Zipline for Enhanced Healthcare Access

According to the report given by The World Bank, around 25 percent of the livelihood of Nigerians are in lack of basic medical amenities and healthcare facilities. They hardly get access to medical supplies, vaccines, and blood products. This resulted in Nigeria to become one of the highest maternal and infant mortality rates around the world. 

The decision to partner Nigeria with the leading drone delivering American company, Zipline will definitely enhance the healthcare system of the country. Zipline already has collaboration with the five African countries including Rwanda, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and Ivory Coast to supply the health facilities. Zipline, is working with Walmart, Pfizer, Toyota, NGO and other health communities and government agencies around the world. 

• In April 2024, Zipline delivered one million autonomous deliveries to real customers.
• They commenced to provide the logistic materials & medical substances from 2022, to remote hospitals located in Kaduna, Nigeria.
• Nigeria is currently planning to partner with them to deliver 1.5 million vaccine doses to zero-dose children.

The higher officials and the ministers of the Nigerian government have embraced this illustrious partnership with Zipline.

Zipline infrastructure is meant to cover entire geography and when we can do that, we make sure that we are truly equalising health care services for everyone, doing that state by state in Nigeria could take a long time and it also puts a big burden on the state to negotiate contract by contract in service delivery. The goal of going to the National level and working with the Federal Ministry of health is to make it easier for states to adopt these infrastructure” – says Caitlin Burton, Senior Vice President
