Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have seized counterfeit cigarettes worth over Sh.18 million in Nairobi.
Area regional police commander Philip Ndolo said that the consignment was confiscated by the sleuths at Kenyatta Market in Kilimani following a tip-off by members of the public on Friday.
Four suspects; Paul Njoroge, Kefa Onyango, Joseph Kariuki and John Wainaina found supplying the cigarettes were arrested during the operations.
“Tipped-off by the public, detectives intercepted a Mitsubishi Canter and upon search found 182 cartons each containing 50 packets of the cigarettes christened Golden Deer King Size,” Ndolo said.
The police boss spoke to the Star by phone on Saturday.
