Politics: President Ouattara Response To The Boycott Appeal In Ivory Coast

Last updated on September 11th, 2021 at 08:17 am

President Alassane Ouattara of Ivory Coast has reacted to the appeal to boycott the forthcoming presidential election in the country by the opposition.

Around 30 individuals have been executed in pre-political race conflicts since August, restoring fears Ivory Coast could slide once more into the sort of savagery that left 3,000 dead in a 2010-2011 emergency.

“They need to quit sending youngsters to their demises. I don’t perceive any reason why the resistance calls for common insubordination, which prompts criminal acts,” Ouattara told a news agency in a meeting on Wednesday.

The 2020 presidential election will be coming up on the 31st of October, President Ouattara is seeking re-election as the president of Ivory Coast against four major oppositions.
