Politics: Vote Counting Begins In Niger

Vote Counting has officially began in Niger, this coming after the just concluded presidential election in the country. Nigeriens are set to have a new president after the completion of the 10-year tenure of President Issoufou Mamadou. Mohamed Bazoum remains the favourite to win the election after President Mamadou’s endosement.

The West African nation, insecure since picking up autonomy from France 60 years prior, is positioned the world’s least fortunate nation as indicated by the UN’s Human Development Index.

Around 7.4 million individuals were enlisted to cast a ballot in the official voting form, which matched with administrative surveys.

“I anticipate that the Nigerien president should put security, wellbeing, progress and vote based system first,” Aboubakar Saleh, a 37-year-old launderer, told a verified source in the capital Niamey without uncovering his decision among the 30 competitors
