Premier league charts are staying volatile and the reason behind that is the craziness with which football is being played in the field. The 90 plus added extra time that fans come in to watch are full of uncertainties and excitement. This was the same energy during today’s match that took place in London between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.
Before the match, Man City coach Pep Guardiola said “history is in front of us”, as he prepared his team for a blinder of a match. Tottenham is one of the most difficult teams to beat seeing Son’s performances with the ball. The South Korean football star is brilliant in the runups he takes to lead his team and often scores when his right foot comes to play.
But today his magic spell failed in front of Walker and his men although he tried his level best in order to take it away from City. The match started with Hotspur kicking the ball off while city fans cheered for the away side as this was a must win to keep their chances alive to defend the title.
In the 3rd minute the eventual showstopper of the match, Erling Haland fouls Hotspur’s Romero. Double the minutes and in comes an almost goal by Bentancur for the home side only to be saved by Ederson by his prime reflexes. 2 minutes after that, De Bruyne tries shooting it into the net after getting the ball from Walker but misses it by miles and is eventually given offside by the linesman.
In the 14th minute, Foden again passes the ball to Walker, who sprints like a cheetah to make a long pass from the right flank to the former but he misses it and comes in a corner after Spurs clears it. 2 minutes after that, the spectators saw a brilliant save by Vicario as Spurs’ Calvert Lewin could only watch the ball coming in from Foden on target.
After this the game proceeds as the teams b battle it out in the field. Things get exciting when Bentancur fouls Foden in a desperate attempt to counter attack in the 36th minute and receives a Yellow card for it. In the next two minutes Walker again tries to set it up for City by giving a long pass from the flank only to see Gvardiol’s volley fly off the post.
A similar chance came just before Half time was signalled to the teams when Haaland was set up by the magician Foden only to see the shot being blocked by Van de Wen, the deflection sees another shot at the goal but is stopped by Dragusin who finds it later that its offside.
After 4 minutes past Half time, the field saw action as Son was set up by Sarr and Johnson in the flanks to lead Hotspur in the scoreline but was stopped by the reflexes of Ederson at the Goalpost yet again. 2 minutes after that, Erling Haaland scored it for City in the 51st minute with an assist given by De Bruyne.
Seeing this goal, Sarr fouls De Bruyne very offensively who goes down crying in pain. The referee booked Sarr immediately for the foul and gave him a yellow card.
Romero again gets a Yellow in the 62nd minute, a third for Spurs after Kulusevski gets kicked down the ankle. The 69th minute saw a double change for City and Tottenham did it in the 86th minute after City goalkeeper Ortega made a match winning save.
The match extends to extra time and in comes Haaland with his second in the 91st minute. He is substituted after 4 minutes he scores his double and the match eventually ends. City beats Tottenham to topple Arsenal in the charts and now leads the points table.
