Minister of Education in South Africa, Angie Motshekgba is determined to eradicate pit toilet in schools by the year 2022. This is due to the archaic nature and the dangers of this type of toilet.
Most of these schools were in KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape. KwaZulu-Natal had 1 168 such schools while the Eastern Cape had 997.
Limpopo had the most elevated numbers among the inland territories, with 298, trailed by the Free State with 123.
