South Africa’s very first multiple-party government from the post-apartheid period deals with critical threats as ANC and DA leaders fight about the national spending plan while South African money struggles in unstable political times. The ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula confirmed on Tuesday that his party sticks to the multiparty government plan even though the DA opposed the budget and started a legal challenge against it.
The parties argue about who should lead budget decisions after their unresolved political differences on healthcare and education. The ANC gained budget support after finding an agreement with another political group who were not part of their coalition. Mbalula believes the DA ruins government collaboration by acting as an inside opposition party. Party leaders fight about a budget provoking tax plan that generates major political tension.
