South Sudan Imposes Nighttime Curfew Amid Protests

South Sudanese police have enforced a nighttime curfew following violent protests in the city, Juba which degenerated into looting of Sudanese owned businesses. The curfew which begins at 6:00 p.m. everyday was announced Friday on state television by Police Chief Abraham Manyuat as new rallies erupted in Juba and other cities.

Heavy shooting was reported on Thursday as security personnel attempted to quell the unrest.
