Sports: Power tussle threatens to tear NFF apart over Technical Director role

Last updated on September 11th, 2021 at 02:36 pm

There seems to be a power tussle at the Glass House, the secretariat of the Nigeria Football Federation as technical director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Bitrus Bewarang, along with his two assistants have so far defied a sack order and so continue to report at their duty post, according to ScoreNigeria.

Bewarang’s contract with the NFF ran out last week, while both his assistants, Rafiu Yusuf and Segi Lagunju retired from the civil service last year.

A top source informed KnowAfrika that the NFF committee led by executive committee member Ahmed Yusuf ‘Fresh’ is not aware of a verbal order from Amaju Pinnick that Bewarang and his assistants vacate office and Nasiru Jubrin to now oversee the department.

“There is a standoff as we speak,” an official told KnowAfrika

“It’s a case of the various power bases at war.
