The search is on at the South African Football Association for a candidate to fill the technical director role.
The SAFA TD role became vacant at the end of June, following the expiry of Neil Tovey’s contract, who had been at the helm for the last five years.
As reported in edition 1181 of Soccer Laduma, former Mamelodi Sundowns scout Sudesh Singh and former Golden Arrows and Bloemfontein Celtic coach Serame Letsoaka have emerged as some of the candidates for the role, according to sources.
While SAFA spokesperson Dominic Chimhavi has been quoted in the media blaming Tovey’s health issues for the non-renewal of his contract, the Mzansi football legend who excelled for both Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana during his playing days confirmed on SL Radio’s podcast that SAFA did offer him a new contract but decided that it was now time for him to go home to be closer to his family.
