The 2025 Champions Trophy could be moved to South Africa if Pakistanrejects ICC conditions

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 could be moved to South Africa if the Pakistan CricketBoard (PCB) rejects the hybrid model, according to a report published by news agency PTI.India’s participation in the tournament has been the subject of much discussion and the teamhas refused to travel to the country. The International Cricket Council (ICC) also sent a letterto the PCB confirming India’s refusal to travel to the country. According to the PTI report, theICC has guaranteed the PCB full accommodation costs if they accept the hybrid model.The International Cricket Council (ICC) has written to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)informing them of India’s decision not to travel to the country to take part in the tournament.The competition is scheduled to run from February 19 to March 9 next year.According to a report published by Dawn, the Pakistani government could ask the PakistanCricket Board (PCB) to withdraw its team from the tournament. The PCB could opt towithdraw from the tournament.Several media outlets have reported that the tournament could go ahead under a hybridmodel, but according to the report, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has ruled out thispossibility. In such a scenario, the ICC may have to move the tournament out of Pakistan.In such a situation, Pakistan is considering withdrawing from the Champions Trophy.‘In this case, one of the options being considered by the government is to ask the PCB toensure that Pakistan does not participate in the Champions Trophy,’ a source was quoted byDawn as saying.Earlier, a PTI report had revealed that the ICC had sent a letter to the PCB confirming India’srefusal to visit Pakistan for the event. The report also mentioned that the current plan was tohold India’s matches in the UAE and the final in Dubai.India and Pakistan have not played bilateral cricket since 2012, but have continued to playeach other in ICC tournaments, including last year’s ODI World Cup in India.Notably, the Asia Cup hosted by Pakistan last year was also played under a hybrid modelafter India refused to play in Pakistan.
