Lebanese Information Minister Manal Abdelsamad resigned on Sunday, in the first government resignation in the wake of a big explosion at the Beirut port.
“After the horror of the catastrophe in Beirut, I put up my resignation,” Abdelsamad stated in a televised statement.
“I express regret from the Lebanese people for no longer being in a position to fulfill their aspirations, alternate is nevertheless a long way from being achieved,” she said.
Five Lebanese lawmakers have already cease in protest of the port explosion that killed at least 158 people, injured hundreds and left a extensive path of destruction at several neighborhoods in the capital.
Lebanese officials stated the blast was precipitated by the detonation of 2,750 lots of ammonium nitrate that had been saved unsafely at the port for the closing six years.
