UAE sent the aid in two planes and landed at Beirut, the capital ofLebanon on Tuesday, as a part of “UAE Stands with Lebanon”.
Lebanon undergoes many crises including political, economic, and socialwhich is crashing down the lives and livelihood of Lebanese. The strifebetween Hezbollah’s militant group and the Israeli armed forces aredestroying the lives of women and children. The vicious consequence of theseevents forced the 1.2 million people to be displaced from their hometown andthey were landed as refugees in the neighbouring countries. The continualattack on the West Asian country Lebanon led to the imbalance of thecountry’s economy which was underscored by the World Bank. The significantsectors that fell down in Lebanon are finance, education and healthcare.Many countries are extending their helping hands towards Lebanon, in whichthe UAE plays a crucial role. 80 tonnes of humanitarian supplies were sent tothe women and children Lebanon by the UAE Highness Sheikha Fatima bintMubarak, the Chairwoman of General Women’s Union, and President of theSupreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation as a part of “UAE Stands WithLebanon”.Where does the aid go?The two flights which carried the 80 tonnes of aid landed in the capital Beirut.The campaign “UAE Stands with Lebanon” was initiated by the HighnessSheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE. The UAEgovernment has been consistent in sending humanitarian aid to Lebanonsince October.“These initiatives reflect the humanitarian legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed andthe constant concern to respond quickly to crises” said the Representative ofForeign Affairs, Sultan Mohammad Al Shamshi.The major victims of these crises are the women/mothers and their children,so they distributed emergency relief supplies, essential medicines and healthcare for them. The UAE government has sent 20 flights loaded with tons ofhumanitarian aid since the commencement of the crisis. These actionsdemonstrate the commitment of the UAE to broader humanitarian initiativesglobally.
