UAE’s Foreign Aid Exceeds $98 Billion, Changing Lives All Around

Having given approximately AED360 billion ($98.09 billion) in overseas aid since its inception in 1971 till mid-2024, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) remains a lighthouse of hope and kindness. Aiming to lower poverty, ease calamities, and advance world peace, the UAE’s global humanitarian effect transcends countries, races, and religions with strong roots of compassion, solidarity, and volunteerism.

The UAE’s efforts highlight its leadership in ensuring that charity is a sustainable endeavor as the globe honors International Day of Charity. Emphasizing healthcare, education, and housing, the UAE aims to help the most needy groups by means of several projects.

The idea put forward by UAE Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahaney is among the most important foundations of the country’s humanitarian help. Under President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, this heritage has blossom with campaigns such “For Your Sake, Somalia,” the “Warm Winter” program, and most recently, “Bridges of Giving” in 2023 for victims of the Türkiye-Syria earthquake.

Under its Zayed Humanitarian Legacy, the UAE has also unveiled fresh projects including the MZB Water Initiative and the Dubai Cares education fund. Already starting to have major effects in important beneficiary countries are these initiatives:

  • Jordan: The UAE provided $300 million in relief, including AED63.8 million for winter clothes, emergency shelters, and basic supplies for camps of refugees.
  • Kenya: The UAE’s humanitarian initiatives center on arming young refugee females with tools, learning resources, and developing facilities for underprivileged pupils, therefore empowering them via education and protection.
  • Ethiopia: Working with UNICEF and the World Food Program, a pledge of AED312.2 million for famine relief concentrated on emergency food help in areas affected by violence.

These projects not only offer immediate help but also create the foundation for long-term development, therefore promoting world peace and security as the UAE marks yet another turning point in its charitable path.
