UAE’s Innovative Approach Sets New Standard in Global Humanitarian Response

Tom Fletcher as UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator describes the UAE as a committed and creative supporter of global humanitarian response activities. According to his WAM interview, Fletcher says humanitarian work has meaning in UAE tradition and commands support from its national leadership. As UN Under-Secretary-General from 2024 Tom Fletcher emphasizes the UAE collaborates because of its unique energy and problem-solving approach alongside its innovative solutions to world crisis relief efforts.

Substantial Contributions to Global Relief Efforts

The UAE shows its devotion to humanitarian aid by donating almost US$223 million to help Palestinians in Gaza through the “Flash Appeal for the Occupied Palestinian Territory” project. After December 2023 the country created a vital UN Security Council resolution that asked the UN to deliver vital support right away to all Palestinians living in Gaza.

In his briefing, Fletcher emphasized how the UAE provides essential funds to the UN Humanitarian Fund administered by OCHA. Organizations on the frontline work with the communities they serve better because the UAE provides them the help they need to respond to emergencies. Mr. Fletcher expressed that the United Nations thanks the UAE for helping victims across Gaza and throughout the world through its critical support.
