Uganda: Government Authorities Cuts Off Internet Amidst Election

Government authorities in Uganda has decided to cut off the internet hours before the presidential election in the country, this move was carried out so as to prevent rigging, hacking and insighting violence during the election in the country.

In a letter to telecoms, the head of Uganda Communications Commission Irene Ssewankambo requested specialist organizations to ‘actualize a transitory suspension of the activity of all your web doors and related passageways’.

She said the closure was to take impact at 7pm neighborhood time (16:00 GMT) Wednesday ‘and proceed until in any case coordinated’.

The improvement viably implies that Ugandans will project their voting forms on Thursday in the midst of a web power outage.

On Tuesday, the interchanges controller guided telecoms to slice admittance to web-based media destinations and web based informing applications.
