The Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC), says that the USD$1.5 billion Hwange Expansion project – Unit 7 and 8 is going according to schedule and will add 600MW to the national grid upon completion in 2022.
The statement reads:
The USD$1.5 billion Hwange Expansion project – Unit 7 and 8, commenced on 1 August 2018. To date, the project is at 18% to completion and on schedule.
Come January 2022 Hwange Expansion will deliver 600MW to the national electricity grid. In progress are the site levelling works for the power plant, excavations sections for unit 8 boiler house section, concrete construction of unit 8 main power building foundation, rerouting of ash pipes and Cooling Tower Water Forebay foundation.
Meanwhile, concrete construction of foundation for main power building, unit 8 section, batching plant and the construction of the chimney foundation are now complete.
