Africa’s Growing Presence at the World Governments Summit 2025

The African leaders, policymakers and industry professionals will be attending  the upcoming World Governments Summit (WGS) 2025. It will be held in Dubai from February 11th to 13th.  Musalia Mudavadi who is a Prime Minister of Kenya and Robinah Nabbanja, Prime Minister of Uganda alongside delegations from various African countries are attending the summit along with other African leaders.

The summit will also host high level ministerial meetings including those focused on digital transformation, economic growth and climate resilience in critical areas for Africa’s future. Moreover, the continent will welcome its international financial partners to lend their support in devising stronger regional investment and trade collaborations through the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Arab Monetary Fund, and the OPEC Fund for International Development discussions.

Key Themes Impacting Africa’s Development:

Investments in the financing of the African continent which has abundant untapped resources will be one of the most critical themes of ‘WGS 2025’. It will also tackle effective governance and the accountability needed to achieve transparency and good governance in order to achieve sustainable development throughout all African countries. Focus will also be on Preparing for the Global Future having the economies of African countries to be economically stable with increased investment, reduced disparity and ready to face the challenges of the global economy.

Climate, Crisis Mitigation and Resilient Cities will tackle urgent environmental concerns with discussions on how African cities can develop sustainable infrastructure and adapt to climate change. Human centric Futures and Capacity Building will emphasize the importance of education, workforce development and digital skills empowering Africa’s youth and strengthening communities. 

Global Health Transformations will focus on improving healthcare systems ensuring better access to medical services and strengthening responses to future health crises. Lastly, Emerging Frontiers and the Future will explore how Africa can leverage new technologies including artificial intelligence and biotechnology to drive economic growth and innovation.
