‘Barbie’ tops Nigerian box office with ₦66 million in first week of release

Barbie, a 2023 comedy American film, topped the Nigerian box office with ₦66 million in the first week of release. Barbie was released on 21 July, 2023. It closed its first week of release with ₦66 million.

Barbie is also currently showing in 66 locations across Nigeria. Barbie has also witnessed some online trends in the country.

Despite Barbie being a trending topic online, the film failed to reach Mission Impossible’s first week debut of ₦78 million. Yoruba epic, Òrìṣà, became the biggest Nollywood opening in 2023 so far with ₦40 million in ticket sales. Oppenheimer earned around ₦26 million in the first week of release in Nigeria.
