1. University of Cape Town

Cape Town is the oldest city in South Africa and the second largest after Johannesburg. The University of Cape Town was founded in 1829 as a South African College. It was granted university status in 1918 – it is now a renowned public research university known far beyond Africa.

2. University of Witwatersrand

The Witwatersrand is a north-facing escarpment in South Africa. It consists of metamorphic rock and several flowing rivers form waterfalls. It means ‘white water ridge’ in Afrikaans.

3. University of Stellenbosch

5. Cairo University

Cairo University is in Egypt; it’s the first public university in the country. It was founded in 1908 and financed by a committee of private citizens. As the first of its kind, Cairo served as a model for other universities to follow.
