In a spectacular showcase of talent and determination, Egypt dominated the FIBA 3×3 Africa Cup 2023 in Cairo, clinching gold in both the men’s and women’s categories on December 3.

Men’s Triumph:

Egypt’s men’s team sealed a flawless victory with an 18-15 win against Nigeria in the final. Ahmed Mohamed and Mido Taha showcased their prowess, contributing 7 and 6 points, respectively. Ramy Basha emerged as a key player throughout the tournament, earning 18 points and crucial rebounds, ultimately securing the MVP award. The Men’s Team of the Tournament featured standout performances from Robert Chima Ukawuba (Nigeria) and Elly Randriamampionona (Madagascar).

Women’s Sensation:

Kenya delivered a stunning upset in the women’s final against host Egypt. Despite Egypt’s early advantage, Kenya mounted a comeback, sealing a 19-13 victory. Natalie Mwangale’s buzzer-beating two-pointer secured Kenya’s improbable win. Madina Okot’s stellar 11-point, 18-rebound performance made her the undeniable star. Natalie Mwangale claimed the MVP award, leading the Women’s Team of the Tournament alongside Raneem Mohamed (Egypt) and Harisoa Hajanirina (Madagascar).
