The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has generously donated relief supplies to Kenya to help families impacted by the recent catastrophic floods that have swept throughout the nation. Dr. Salim Ahmed Al-Naqbi, the UAE ambassador to Kenya, delivered the 40 tons of cargo, which included both food and non-food items. Cabinet Secretary Penina Malonza, who is in charge of the East African Community (EAC), Arid and Semi-Arid Lands, and Regional Development, attended the ceremony.
Aid, which was a vital lifeline for many people uprooted or struggling due to the floods, began to arrive in the country yesterday. CS Malonza thanked the generous donor during the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) reception and announced that flood victims nationwide would start receiving the relief supplies next week.
The Kenya Red Cross and other pertinent organizations will receive the goods after the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) clears the shipment; they will then identify the victims and start distribution.” Starting next week, we will make sure that all flood-affected individuals receive relief food and non-food items. She announced the scheduled arrival of two more consignments of food and non-food items in the nation tomorrow, Saturday.
Emphasizing the importance of group support in difficult situations Mwanaisha Chidzuga, the deputy government spokesperson, said, “We call upon other well-wishers to assist the victims, and we appreciate all the UAE partners for helping us with the food consignments.”
Among the relief items are necessities including sugar, rice, tomato paste, milk powder, salt, and wheat flour. For the impacted families, who have many times lost their houses and means of subsistence as a result of the floods, the donation is a huge comfort. Authorities want Kenyans to be secure and to follow government warnings while the rescue activities go on to guarantee their safety. The administration has also urged Kenyans to show compassion and solidarity in the face of hardship by helping their fellow citizens in need.
