Former President Ibrahim Boubacar Keta of Mali has died in Bamako

Mali – Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, Mali’s former president who was deposed by the military in 2020, died at his house on Sunday, according to his family. From 2013 to 2020, Mali was led by Ibrahim Boubacar Keita. According to his family, former Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, who served Mali from 2013 to 2020, died on Sunday, January 16, at his residence in Bamako.

A family member told AFP that President IBK (Ibrahim Boubacar Keita) died at his residence in Bamako this morning at 9 a.m. (GMT and local time). Several family members corroborated this information. In August 2020, the military deposed Mali’s president, Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, who was elected in September 2013. Several members of his family and entourage corroborated this knowledge. Mr. Keta, who was elected president of Mali in September 2013 and August 2020 by the military.

In August 2020, he was deposed, and in May 2021, he was deposed again. Colonel Assimi Gota’s junta has declared its ambition to rule the country for several years, despite having earlier vowed to hold presidential and legislative elections on February 27 to allow civilians to reclaim control.
