Ghana’s Amputee Dominates In First Match of African Para Games

Ghana’s Amputee football team, called the Black Challenge, won their first match in the 2023 African Para Games. They played against Uganda’s Amputee Cranes and won with a score of 7-0. The Ghanaian team showed great skill and determination in the game.

Some of the standout players for Ghana were Mohammed Mubarik, who scored two goals, Yussif Yahaya, who scored three goals, and Hamza Mohammed, who scored two goals. Their performance impressed the fans and set a high standard for the rest of the tournament.

The coach of the Ghana Amputees football team, Stephen Richard Obeng, was happy with the team’s performance. He said that their preparations had paid off and that they were able to test all their players in the match. 

He urged the supporters to continue coming to the games and expressed confidence that they could win the competition.

Captain Richard Arthur Opetin acknowledged that the match was not easy, despite the scoreline. He asked Ghanaians to support the team and pray for their success.

With this victory, the Black Challenge is currently at the top of Group A. Liberia will also play against Morocco in the next Group A match.

The first African Para Games started in Accra, Ghana. It will last for 10 days and has 22 countries participating. The games include amputee football, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair tennis, and sitting volleyball. 

The International Paralympic Committee supports the event, which aims to break the stigma around Para sports in Africa. Representatives from various African nations attended the opening ceremony. 

The games aim to help Paralympic athletes achieve excellence in sports. This event is an important step for Ghana in developing disabled sports.

The African Para Games started with a big ceremony in Accra, Ghana. Athletes from over 20 countries in Africa are competing in sports like amputee football, wheelchair tennis, wheelchair basketball, and sitting volleyball. 

The African Para Games event is not just about winning medals, but also about bringing people together and showing the spirit of unity. 

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, said that the games are about honoring the athletes’ determination and resilience. 

The event celebrates Africa’s rich culture and aims to build understanding and solidarity among people. The athletes have trained hard and are ready to inspire others with their skills.
