Google Brings Generative AI Search In Africa; How To Use?

Google, an American multinational technology company, introduced its Search Generative Experience (SGE) as an opt-in experiment in Search Labs in Africa on 9 November, 2023. 

Google’s AI-powered experience is available in various countries in Africa. Search Generative Experience (SGE) aims to redefine the capabilities of a search engine and how social media users interact with information.

Google unveiled the Search Generative Experience (SGE) in the Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) region to empower individuals to explore information. 

Wambui Kinya, GM of Google Search for Sub-Saharan Africa, said, “Our mission is to make the world’s information universally accessible to all.”

SGE offers a more intuitive and informed exploration. SGE will simplify complex topics, offer quick tips to solve queries, and helping African users find answers more efficiently.

Google’s Search Generative Experience in Sub-Saharan Africa marks a significant advancement in the field of search technology in various countries in Africa.

With this opt-in experiment in Search Labs, Google is contributing to the advancement of digital access and knowledge dissemination in various countries in Africa.

How to use it?

To be part of Search Generative Experience (SGE) as an opt-in experiment in Search Labs in Africa, users can tap the Labs icon in the latest version of the Google application, available on Android and iOS, or on Chrome desktop.

They can visit the Labs site to check their waitlist status. African users can provide valuable feedback to Google in order to shape the future of AI-powered search experiences.
