Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) 2024 results will not be released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (Jamb).
Registrar of the Jamb, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, gave the information at a conference in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, on Monday.
Scheduled to begin on Friday 19 April and end on Monday 29 April 2024, the exam will be held in 118 cities and towns across Nigeria. The exam will be held in 118 cities and 774 examination centres.
Overall, 1,989,668 candidates have registered for the UTME, the examination that guarantees them access to higher education.
Altogether, 1,904,189 candidates sat the exam. During this time, the Board of Governors published the results of 1,842,464 candidates.
The Jamb clerk says that 64,624 results are still being investigated for various reasons.
These results, which Jamb tok says are under investigation, are broken down as follows;
Verification investigation (2,896 results)
Procedural investigation of candidates (4,594 results)
Centre investigation (57,056 results) for 18 centres: 12 for Edo State, 3 for Akwa Ibom State, 2 for Delta State and 1 for Kwara State.
Alleged examination failures (78)
Breakdown of student results for UTME 2024
According to Jamb, of the 1,842,464 results published by the examining body, 0.4% scored over 300, while 24% scored 50% (200/400) and above.
8,401 students obtained a score of 300 or more. 77,070 students obtained a score of 250 or more. A total of 439,974 candidates obtained a score of 200 or more and 1,402,490 candidates obtained a score of less than 200.
How do I check my UTME results?
Candidates are advised by the board to use the telephone numbers they have registered to text UTMERESULT to 55019/66019.
Using these numbers, they say they don’t need to go to a CBT centre or internet cafe to check their results.
However, Jamb also explains that once the candidate has sent the text, the candidate with the result receives the message:
Those results that are still being processed and those that are absent are marked ‘in process’ and ‘absent’ respectively, adds the exam board.

Who is Jamb’s top score?
No candidate has been announced by Di Joint Admission Matriculation Board as the top scorer for UTME 2024.
The registrar at Jamb says it is not in its nature to announce a candidate’s name as the top scorer, as it sees the UTME solely as a ranking exam for candidates seeking admission to higher education institutions.
The Board said that to avoid a repeat of the Mmesome saga – a girl who claims to have achieved the highest score in the Jamb, pipo and leading organisations are starting to send her awards and gifts.
‘Jamb don beg pipo wey wan award awards to candidates wey perform well-well for di exam to always verify from dem bifor dem go ahead.
The panel adds that the reason it does not designate the best score is due to the different variables adopted by the institutions and that the candidate who obtains the best mark is still not admitted to university.
