One of the individuals mentioned by Tribune Nantaise in its Ideal Mercato, Jean-Philippe Gbamin is about to slip through the fingers of FC Nantes. The 28-year-old Ivorian international has already travelled far and wide, with a career punctuated by spells at the four corners of the continent: Lens, Mainz, Everton, CSKA Moscow, Trabzonspor and most recently Dunkirk. He had a convincing year on the coast, but was left without a contract to look elsewhere. The former Lens player is not joining the Canaris, however.

Gbamin has signed a two-year contract with New York City Red Bulls, running until June 2026, with an option for a further year. Gbamin is preparing to make a free move to the American continent, dashing the hopes of Espanyol Barcelona, SCO Angers, FC Metz and FC Nantes. Talks between Les Canaris and Gbamin, which have not yet been concluded, have now been confirmed.
