Kylian Mbappé, the French footballer, was seen training with his club Real Madrid on Tuesday, before returning to work after a break to recover from injury.
His training session comes as Swedish media report that he is under investigation for an alleged rape in Stockholm, after visiting the city last week. The Swedish broadcaster SVT reported that Mbappé is “reasonably suspected” of rape, citing documents it has seen.
Swedish prosecutors confirmed that they had opened an investigation into an alleged rape in a Stockholm hotel, but did not reveal the identity of the suspect.
Connected to this, Mbappé denounced the Swedish reports as “fake news”, and her representatives described them as “totally false and irresponsible”.
In a social media post, Mbappé appeared to link the news in Sweden to a hearing in the French capital on Tuesday, as part of a legal battle with his former club, Paris Saint Germain, over unpaid wages.
Speaking later in the day, a lawyer for Mbappé said the 25-year-old was baffled by the information, claiming that “a complaint doesn’t make the truth, a complaint doesn’t prove anything”. She also said she did not know whether the complaint filed in Sweden concerned Mbappé or not.
