Morocco to face Zambia in World Cup qualifiers

Morocco is set to face Zambia in the next World Cup qualifier. World Cup semi-finalist Morocco has to win a group including Zambia to qualify for the next edition of the world cup to be held in 2026.

Congo Brazzaville, Tanzania, Niger, and Eritrea complete Group E following a draw made yesterday in Abidjan, the commercial hub of the Ivory Coast, by former African players.

Morocco became the first African or Arab country to reach the World Cup semi-finals last year before losing to France.

According to experts, Yassine Bounou, Achraf Hakimi, Sofyan Amrabat and Youssef en-Nesyri can be the winners of the section with Zambia.

In FIFA rankings, Morocco is the highest placed African team. Morocco became popular after last year’s FIFA world cup. Tunisia is in Group H with Equatorial Guinea, a rising African force that defeated Tunisia in an African Cup of Nations qualifier last month. Tunisia have already been to five of the last seven World Cups.

Nigeria and South Africa will play in Group C. Zimbabwe will also play in Group C because the FIFA ban has been lifted.

The winners will feature in the inter-confederation playoffs to be held in March 2026 in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Team Morocco have been drawn with Zambia, Congo-Brazzaville, Tanzania, Niger and Eritrea. Morocco aims to finish top of the pool.
