According to Jowhar news, a number of mortar shells landed in Warta Nabada and Boondheere districts near the Presidential Palace. Reports say one of the mortars hit a family home and caused casualties.
More details are emerging about shelling in districts near the National Presidency today.
One of the mortars hit Boondheere district, killing two women and wounding five others. One shell was also fired near the Somali presidential palace.
Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack, which it said targeted the Somali presidential palace.

Meanwhile, a statement from the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) welcomed the proposed reopening of talks with Somalia’s political stakeholders to resolve the electoral stalemate. The IGAD statement stated that the dialogue was an important process that would lead to confidence and the completion of all obstacles to the elections.
The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) encourages all stakeholders to give a chance to the new initiative and re-engage in open and effective dialogue in the interest of the Somali people.
She also strongly urged all Somali leaders to exercise restraint and refrain from any action that could escalate tensions or lead to conflict.
