Real Madrid qualify for the Champions League finals

Carlo Ancelotti’s men came from behind to beat Bayern Munich 2-1 (4-3 on aggregate) in the Champions League semi-final at the Bernabéu on Wednesday night.

Real Madrid beat Bayern Munich Real with a dramatic late comeback 4-3 on aggregate after a thrilling 2-1 victory in the second leg at Santiago Bernabéu to qualify for the Champions League final., substitute Joselu scoring twice in the dying minutes to send the 14-time Champions League winners into the final against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley.

Real Madrid were heading for a shock defeat when Alfonso Davies silenced the Bernabeu with a stunning goal, while Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel was minutes away from pulling off a coup after an unconvincing defensive performance.

But a mistake by Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who had looked impenetrable in saving Vinicius Junior’s shot earlier in the game, allowed Joselu to equalise in the 88th minute after the German keeper had missed a powerful shot.

Joselu then capitalised on Antonio Rüdiger’s cross moments later. The goal was initially disallowed for offside, but was cancelled out after a VAR check, sending Real Madrid through to the Wembley final, where they will attempt to win the 15th European title in the club’s history.

The end of the match was marked by refereeing controversies, VAR cancelled out Real Madrid’s first equaliser, despite its brilliance, for a foul by Nacho on Kimmich (71, 1-1), and Bayern unsuccessfully claimed Joselu was offside for the second goal (90+1, 2-1). The Germans could also feel aggrieved by the final shot of the match, when the Spanish players stopped play for an unclear offside, even though De Ligt had put the ball in the back of the net.

The King of Europe shook in his boots, but will be playing in his 18th UEFA Champions League final and aiming for a 15th title at Wembley on June 1.
