Rob Walter Resigns as Proteas White-Ball Coach After Historic T20 World Cup Run

Rob Walter Resigns his Position as coach for the Proteas men’s team for white-ball games because personal problems needed attention.

The coach at 49 achieved a historic milestone by helping South Africa reach their first T20 World Cup final in 2024. Through his coaching the Proteas played eight straight victories but placed second to India at the Barbados T20 World Cup final.

Welty explains he feels proud for his Proteas team achievements in his farewell letter. The entire South African cricket team and support staff have handled this ambition with enthusiasm. After serving the term, he believes the team will progress further under its own strength.

During 67 international games Walter served as head coach and managed 36 ODI and 31 T20I matches.

  • Secured series victories against Australia, Netherlands, Ireland, and Pakistan
